What can be easier to wear than a maxi dress? It’s incredibly comfy, gives great coverage, and is super chic!
Middle age kind of snuck up on me, and along the way I neglected to read the memo about thinning hair and eyebrows. One afternoon I was staring at my reflection in the mirror, wondering why everything seemed a bit… off. I looked like myself, only sparse and faded. Later I ran into a friend who’s a few years older. She looked so bright and awake. “I just had my lashes done,” she breathlessly informed me. “Don’t they look great!” She batted her eyes at me, and I had to agree she looked fabulous. Everything about her seemed more vibrant and intense. Of course you know what I did next…
After a 60-minute session that was surprisingly relaxing, I walked out of the salon with a full set of “permanent” eyelash extensions. Continue Reading
last time on style challenge, our illustrious leader, brenda, posed a style question: would brogans be appropriate footwear for a speaking engagement? a few thoughts… for those not familiar with a brogan, they are traditional work boots used by the irish and scots in the wet and boggy countryside. Are you ready for a style challenge, or does the thought of learning a new style trick make you want to run and hide? If you have yet to master pattern mixing, currently on-trend, then today’s your lucky day. Remember how prints are mixed in 2016 is not to be confused with a by-gone era when plaids and polka dots never crossed paths. Back in the day, we may have dabbled with mixed prints on any given day, but when our mothers caught sight of it… We were immediately marched back to our rooms, then kindly assisted with our wardrobe selections. Aren’t you glad certain fashion rules have been broken forever?
So who’s ready to learn mix prints like a pro? Well then… What are we waiting for? Let’s take a look at just how easy it is to become a pattern mixing expert. Continue Reading

Hi There! I’m Cathy Williamson, a fashion blogger, and I’m so excited to be contributing to this wonderful community known as 1010 Park Place.
I started my blog, THE MIDDLE PAGE, 3 1/2 years ago, when I noticed that most of the women bloggers were in their 20’s and 30’s. A lot has changed since then, and more and more women over 40 are blogging.
I love it, because it shows that even though we didn’t grow up learning on a computer, or with social media being our means of communication, we’re catching on. I am so proud of us! I also like that even though we may be older–I am 56 and a grandmother–we certainly don’t have to start dressing like it. Continue Reading
Since the early 1970s, Sandy Linter’s run with the cool crowd by night, and by day worked with top designers, photographers and models to create the iconic makeup looks for the covers and fashion layouts in magazines like Vogue. As you might expect, Sandy has a treasure trove of photographs. Each week she’ll share her personal scrapbook and comments on 1010 Park Place, a little something she’s calling “Sandy’s Hot Flashes.” Some of her photographs are small Polaroids from the 70s and 80s, some are from magazines and others are recent. They all give us a peek into Sandy’s extraordinary life.
Sandy Linter’s a special talent who’s funny and beautiful and an expert when it comes to makeup, especially on women over 45. She has an enduring spirit, and she knows EVERYONE.
Last time here on 1010 Park Place I promised to discuss what’s on trend for 2017. Seeing as I’d just returned from NYFW, it only seemed fitting to discuss spring fashion. For an entire week, the New York runways depicted all things spring. But wait. What about fall fashion? Didn’t the temps finally drop after a long hot summer? I for one am dying to wear sweaters, scarves, and booties.
Shouldn’t we at least dip one big toe into the ‘what’s trending for fall pool?’
Animal print is on-trend this season, but did it really ever go out of style? A fabulous animal print dress can be “almost” as versatile as a little black dress. The neutral colors create a “canvas” that works with just about any pop of color.
Did you know there is a universal language? A language women speak fluently? Although, you’ll find more than one distinguished man who converses in this language with ease. Of course there are a variety of dialects, not to mention a myriad of accents, but it can also be spoken without uttering a single word. Continue Reading
