“I know who I am,” Keith Richards says, in the trailer for his new Netflix documentary. “But I realize that people think Keith Richards is smoking a joint, bottle in his hand, cursing the fact that the liquor store’s closed.”

Debuting today, on Netflix, Keith Richards: Under the Influence, a documentary directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker, Morgan Neville, uses rare archival materials and lots of new footage of Keith to paint a picture of this brilliant guitarist and complex man. Watch the trailer and then tell me you’re not smiling, tapping your foot and eager to see this new film.

“If there’s a Mount Rushmore of rock and roll, Keith’s face is surely on it,” Morgan Neville said in a recent statement. “He has always represented the soul of rock music-for all of the light and dark shades that implies.”

The other big release Keith Richards’ fans have been waiting for is his first solo LP in 23 years, Crosseyed Heart. One of the tracks is “Illusion,” a soulful heartbreak duet with Norah Jones.

Whether he was high or straight, if you want to understand Keith Richards, the one constant has always been music. Here’s to you, Keef! Keep rockin’ man!

    • It’s a great album. Lots of blues and sentimental pieces. Not rock ‘n roll. In my opinion, his best. xoxox, Brenda

    • Thanks. I’ll have to see if I can find that interview. I watched the Netflix documentary this evening. I could watch it every day. It’s a different view of Keith, but then he’s a different man, now, than the hard rockin’ man. As he said, “I’m not getting old. I’m evolving.” You and your husband might check it out on Netflix. I also downloaded his new album. The best one, yet. xoxox, Brenda

    • Val,
Thought I’d let you know, I listened to Keith’s interview on Fresh Air. Think is was recorded in 2010, but I still enjoyed it. It was a great look at his songwriting process. Thanks again, xoxo Brenda

    • Hi Rena!
I think you’ll like it. It gives viewers an insight into Keith, today, and how he’s been influenced, musically. Found it fascinating!
      XOXOX,
      Brenda
