FORMER PRESIDENT, TOM FORD BEAUTY; ULTIMA II; RALPH LAUREN FRAGRANCES & PRESCRIPTIVES; CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER, ESTÉE LAUDER; CREATIVE DIRECTOR, SEVENTEEN; FASHION EDITOR, MADEMOISELLE, BEAUTY EDITOR, VOGUE

By Brenda Coffee content editorial director Mark Grischke photographer Noel Sutherland

From her early days as beauty editor of Vogue, working alongside Grace Mirabella, to President of Ralph Lauren Fragrances, or building Tom Ford’s beauty business from scratch, Andrea Robinson has played a key role in modernizing the cosmetic business. As President of Revlon’s Ultima II brand, Andrea and her team developed “The Nakeds,” the natural makeup look, along with the first, long-wearing lipstick. Now Andrea is talking to women about skincare, makeup and aging in her book, Toss the Gloss.

“I watched The Graduate, again,” said Andrea Robinson. “People then were watching that movie and thinking Mrs. Robinson was so old, but she was only 39, but it doesn’t matter. People now say 50 is the new 40. I say 50 is the new 50.”

“SEXY DOESN’T HAVE AN AGE. AGING IS AN ASSET. WE JUST HAVE TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO USE IT.”

OWNER, WORTH NEW YORK, IN SAN ANTONIO; PAST PRESIDENT ADVISOR, FORMER PRESIDENT & CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD, CHARITY BALL ASSOCIATION; FORMER MISTRESS OF THE ROBES, BATTLE OF FLOWERS ASSOCIATION; FORMER BOARD MEMBER, KOMEN SAN ANTONIO; FORMER MIDDLE SCHOOL HISTORY TEACHER

By Brenda Coffee photographer Jennifer Denton

If people had ingredient labels like foods at the grocery store, Heather Wolff’s ingredients would be love, family, generosity, compassion and strength. Heather, a San Antonio native and graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, is no stranger to supporting her community. Whether it’s the Charity Ball Association, which helps fund over 200 children’s agencies in and around San Antonio, or the Battle of Flowers Association, which keeps the historic and patriotic traditions of Texas and San Antonio alive, Heather Wolff’s been there, front and center.

“At this stage of my life, I’m enjoying being a grandmother, so I don’t have as many big jobs as I did in the past. One year I was Mistress of the Robes for the Battle of Flowers Parade during Fiesta. Fiesta is kind of a Mardi Gras celebration that’s unique to San Antonio’s culture and Spanish heritage. Now I dress the Duchesses for the parade. Once they’re in their finery, they’re placed on top of their float with a cherry picker. It’s great fun.”

MY MOTHER DIED, SUDDENLY, SIX YEARS AGO. NOT A DAY GOES BY I DON’T THINK ABOUT HER AND WISHED I’D HAD ONE MORE CONVERSATION WITH HER.

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, MARKETING INTEGRATION & CUSTOMER INSIGHTS, AMERICAN EXPRESS

By Brenda Coffee content editorial director Mark Grischke photographer Noel Sutherland

The 44th floor of the American Express building offers a breathtaking view of New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty. In 1885, 35-years after American Express was founded in Lower Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty was on her way to New York without a pedestal on which to stand. So the employees of American Express contributed their pennies to her future success. In 1983, American Express once again came to the aid of Lady Liberty, by helping restore her to her former glory in advance of her centennial celebration.

It seems fitting the corporate headquarters would watch over her as a reminder of the company’s 164-year history of supporting its communities. That legacy lives on, and nowhere is that more evident than with a 24-year veteran of American Express, Mary Ann Fitzmaurice Reilly. Mary Ann has been a leading voice in the company’s efforts to help small businesses do more business, and has taken it as her own mission to help women entrepreneurs.

“I’M A WIDOW, AND A SINGLE MOTHER, SO… I FEEL MY GREATEST RESPONSIBILITY IS BEING A GOOD ROLE MODEL.”

PRESIDENT, BERNARD MAISNER STUDIO, LLC; PRESIDENT, BOARD OF ANIMAL RESCUE FUND OF THE HAMPTONS (ARF); BOARD MEMBER, WOMEN’S VOICES FOR CHANGE; DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY RELATIONS & OUTREACH, LEMAN MANHATTAN, A K-12 MERITAS FAMILY OF SCHOOLS; FORMERLY IN SALES MANAGEMENT FOR LIZ CLAIBORNE, RALPH LAUREN AND VICE PRESIDENT, KAREN KANE; PRIVATE PILOT

By Brenda Coffee content editorial director Mark Grischke photographer Noel Sutherland

This year the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons(ARF) celebrates their 40th anniversary. As President of the Board, Lisa McCarthy has translated her skills sets from the fashion world into rescuing homeless animals and finding them loving homes. “If you run a nonprofit like a for-profit, and make people accountable, you have better results,“ said Lisa. “For us, that means saving more lives.”

Almost four million animals are killed every year. Nine thousand are euthanized every day. The lucky ones are in places like ARF. “This year we’ll adopt out 1,500 animals,” said Lisa. “We have an incredible staff that’s extraordinarily dedicated, and we have a full-time vet. It’s difficult work because at any given time, we have 200 animals. I get upset when I think about what goes on with animals. They’re always happy to see you. All they ask for in return is a home.”

“THEY FOUND HER IN NEW ORLEANS, ON TOP OF A BOOKCASE, WITH HER FIVE DEAD PUPPIES WRAPPED AROUND HER. SHE HADN’T EATEN IN TWO WEEKS.”

By Brenda Coffee content editorial director Mark Grischke photographer Noel Sutherland Sandy Linter

As super model, Nancy Donahue, runs through her moves at a photo shoot, one fluid pose transitions into another, like a dance with an unseen partner. “Don’t photograph my toes!” Nancy laughs. “I’ve been swimming in Walden Pond and need a new pedicure.”

One of 11 children from a close, Lowell, Massachusetts, Catholic family, Nancy Donahue was discovered by accident. “I was dating a bartender who modeled in New York for Mademoiselle magazine. They asked if he knew any cute girls, so I went for an interview at Mademoiselle. There were 200 other girls, and they chose me. They gave me a contract for 10 covers.”

“I NEVER KNEW I WAS PRETTY. I DIDN’T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT MAKEUP. I WAS A TOMBOY. SKINNY. THE LAST GIRL TO GET PICKED TO GO TO THE PROM.”

PHILANTHROPIST, WIFE, MOTHER, FILM & TELEVISION ACTRESS, SPOKESMODEL FOR PAUL MITCHELL HAIR CARE

By Brenda Coffee photographer Jennifer Denton makeup & hair Russ Brouse

Eloise DeJoria is the real deal: a woman who’s genuine of heart, quick to laugh and perceptive about the needs of others. Munching on an all green, raw vegetable wrap, Eloise is reminded of a trip to a New York City restaurant. “We went to Jean-Georges. Every bite of food is a burst of flavor, but it lingers…” Eloise begins to laugh. “You say, I thought I was finished with that bite!”

On the same New York trip, Eloise was part of ConnectHer.org’s Girls Impact the World Film Festival. “Girls from all over the world made short films about something that’s dear to them. One girl did a film about how she was sexually abused. In the film she tells girls, ‘If someone tells you they love you, when they’re taking off your clothes, it doesn’t mean that’s true.’ We encourage the girls to go back to their countries and talk about their message. I love Girls Impact the World because they’re educating their peers with their voice. If I was given a voice when I was a young girl, my life would have been totally different.”

“I HAVE REALLY GOOD RADAR FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE UNBALANCED. I TRY TO HELP THEM IF I CAN, BUT THEN I BACK OFF WITH LOVE. I PROTECT MYSELF. THAT WAS A BIG DEAL FOR ME TO DO THAT.”

PARTNER AT PAUL WILMOT COMMUNICATIONS

By Brenda Coffee content editorial director Mark Grischke photographer Noel Sutherland

“Ever since I was little, I’ve loved fashion and beauty products,” said Kate Doerge, partner at Paul Wilmot Communications. While the firm is sometimes referred to as the “Tiffany standard of fashion PR,” Kate has been called “unimpeachably glamorous” and with good reason. Her office closet is a boutique, in and of itself.

“I feel very fortunate we’ve always worked with clients who I’ve been able to wear their clothes and benefit from the beautiful collections they have. That includes accessories from shoes and handbags, to the collections of our designers. It’s a girl’s dream to work in fashion, and it’s fun to to live my dream and enjoy doing it.”

“MY FIRST JOB INTERVIEW, I WAS STRAIGHT OFF THE BEACH. I WORE A PAIR OF SKORTS FROM BANANA REPUBLIC, A CHANEL FAUX PURSE AND JACK ROGERS PATENT LEATHER FLIP FLOPS.”
