In my opinion, dresses are the easiest thing to wear. One piece of clothing. That’s it! You don’t have to match a top with a bottom whether it be a skirt, pants or shorts.

Covertly I watch the four giggling women as they take their seats at the table. The restaurant is busy, but I’m aware I’m not the only one who’s noticed their arrival. There are many admiring glances being shot their way.
I know immediately which one I would like to emulate, at least in appearance, should I be so lucky to reach my 70s.
My inbox is filling up with emails from retailers regarding Fashion Week. It doesn’t matter if it’s in London, Paris or New York City. I just don’t get it. I don’t understand the wacky makeup and hairstyles. I don’t understand the reasoning behind the weird shoes and clothes that designers will not sell. Why not just show off their new line of what women will actually wear?

Times have changed and for the mother of the bride. This is good news. There are so many wonderful options for dresses.
Thankfully the choices go beyond matronly and boring.
My grandmother used to have an elegant boutique in a suburb of Boston. She had beautiful taste and an eye for gorgeous clothes. Her store was divided into three areas: Dresses, Casual Wear and a Baby/Children’s room with the most adorable clothes!
I remember salesmen coming to the store and showing her their line of “Resort Wear.” It’s a term that makes me think of her lovely store.
