Darlings, whenever I think of fall, I think of the movie When Harry Met Sally. With Harry Connick Jr.’s soundtrack in the background, New York’s Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art play essential roles in setting the mood. Brilliant colored leaves, diffused afternoon lighting and Sally’s chunky sweater and tweed blazer always make me yearn for fall. Why, I can almost smell the Pumpkin Spice wafting through the chilly air.
Sally knew a thing or two about fall dressing. Cozy fabrics in gorgeous autumn shades were key to her wardrobe. This was just the inspiration I needed to kick off some fall ensemble ideas. I wanted a soft silhouette with a laid-back feel of delicious tones of cream, chocolate and pumpkin spice. I wanted a look that would take me from an orchard run for apples and cider donuts, to tapas and chardonnay with the girls.
Over the years I’ve learned to invest in luxurious knits that stand the test of time. My latest find is this ultra cozy sweater by Frame Denim. A sumptuous wool blend in a slouchy shape, this sweater looks fabulous with everything from jeans to a more dressed-up look. The drop shoulder and fuller sleeves add interest to this classic shape.
If you haven’t worn an A-line skirt since 1976, when Fay Dunaway’s character wore one in Network, then it’s time you did. It’s still the feminine classic we know and love. My Rochas wool and silk blend skirt has that beautiful, effortless silhouette and a higher waist for elegant definition. In a warm light brown, you’ll be pairing this versatile piece with all your fall staples.
Suede is perfect for fall and these Prada lace-up boots are just the shoe to complete my soft fall look. With a block heel and in a yummy pumpkin spice color, these boots have a youthful, yet sophisticated vibe.
A busy girl like me occasionally needs a backpack or cross body bag, and this Chloe Mini Faye bag features both. The gold metal bracelet handle and chain clip detail add just the right amount of polish to my fall look. The pumpkin spice color will have you reaching for this bag all season.
So my Fashionable Friends, take a cue from Sally this fall and enjoy a walk in the park in all it’s splendor. Don’t forget to add a little pumpkin spice to your coffee with your pecan pie!
Cheers Loves!
XOXO, Hildie
