When you think about fashion and the 80s, Madonna comes to mind. Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone, from Bay City, Michigan, was the fashion role model for millions of high school girls. Whether it was her curly, dirty blonde hair, or her “Desperately Seeking Susan” black tank top and skirt, worn over tight, short pants, Madonna was at the forefront of layered necklaces and bracelets, often mixing multiple strands of pearls with a cross.
By the end of the 80s, Madonna went from Daddy’s little girl-gone-punk, to an in-your-face, sexual woman who borrowed from past fashion icons like Marilyn Monroe and Marlene Dietrich. It’s interesting how many of these fashion looks are still in “Vogue.”
