One of my mother’s favorite things to say is, “You have no idea what it’s like to get older.” I’m always amazed at how she says this with a straight face, ignoring that she gave birth to me when Howdy Doody was at the peak of his career.
“Wait until you go into a room and can’t remember why you went there in the first place,” she continues, “and you start losing your hair.”
“BEEN THERE DONE THAT,” I WANT TO SAY. “SIDE EFFECTS OF CHEMOTHERAPY.”
